Description
“The first edition of these guidelines was endorsed and published by the British Paediatric Association (BPA) in 1994. Since then the activities of the BPA have been subsumed by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. Additionally an association dedicated to the study of milk banking (The United Kingdom Association for Milk Banking) was established in October 1997. Both organisations have agreed to collaborate on the updating of future editions of guidelines for donor milk banking.
Of necessity, such guidelines must be supported by the best contemporaneous evidence: it is therefore important that they are regularly reviewed and updated as new research data becomes available. This second edition of the guidelines will therefore in due course be superceded as the science and practice of milk banking progresses.”
